The Bamboo Hale serves up delectable farm plates and weekend wood-fired pizza. No reservations, walk-ins only.
Hale (pronounced HAH-leh) means ‘home’ or 'structure' in Hawaiian. Our traditional, open-air bamboo hale was designed and constructed by our friend Rich at Whispering Winds Bamboo Farm in Kīpahulu, Maui. Bamboo is often used in traditional Hawaiian construction because of its sustainability and resiliency. All the bamboo in our restaurant was sourced directly from the regenerative, organic farm in Kīpahulu. You’ll love enjoying your meal with the ocean breeze, surrounded by views of our tropical garden.
Our artisan wood-fired pizzas, made fresh in our handcrafted clay oven, are topped with Maui-grown meat and produce, including herbs, chilies, and veggies from our farm. We love to incorporate farm-fresh ingredients in our pizza and create fun combos, such as homemade pesto with freshly harvested sweet potatoes. Our farm fare is inspired by more traditional Hawaiian meals and caters to a carnivore’s taste. Meat-lovers will appreciate our succulent BBQ Beef Brisket sourced from Maui Cattle Company and pulled pork smoked in-house by our chefs, topped with our homemade BBQ sauce. Each farm plate comes with jasmine rice and a side of mac salad, papaya salad, curry potato salad, or the famous Hāna Farms garden salad, fresh-picked from the farm.
The Harvest Salad is a collection of farm-fresh greens from our farm. This nutrient-dense organic salad varies every harvest, depending on what’s available. You can expect a combination of some or all o: moringa, red zinger, Okinawa spinach, katuk, wild greens, kale, and arugula. As fresh as can be, this salad is sure to nourish your body and soul!
Our Covid-19 Response
As Maui gears up to reopen for tourism, we at Hāna Farms are taking numerous precautions to ensure that our guests and community stay safe during this global pandemic.
Here’s what we’re doing to keep us all healthy and happy!
When dining at our restaurant, we ask that you:
Use hand sanitizer before entering
Wear a mask anytime you’re not seated at your table
Follow social distancing guidelines
Have tested negative for Covid-19 if coming from off-island
Our restaurant team members will:
Wear gloves when handling food items
Observe social distancing measures
Follow CDC guidelines for cleaning/food safety
Our beautiful, open-air hale allows for social distancing between tables. All food is currently served on disposable plates and with disposable cutlery to decrease the likelihood of cross-contamination.
Lindsey has a long history in the restaurant industry and has been The Bamboo Hale’s restaurant manager since it opened about a year and a half ago. She was an integral part of building our farm fresh menu and reinvigorating our pizza program. We feel incredibly lucky to have such an experienced and excellent manager on our team, especially someone who loves Hāna so much!
