Discover the Gardens
Hana Farms Discovery Gardens are a collection of living gardens created to help visitors understand how tropical food plants grow. Developed over the past 20 years, the gardens feature spices, fruit trees, food crops, and flowering plants that thrive in Hana’s climate. Together, they offer a hands-on way to explore tropical agriculture, discover the origins of familiar foods, and encounter new plants from around the world.

Explore the Gardens
Winding paths connect a series of distinct garden areas, each focused on a different group of plants.
Spice Grove - Cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, curry leaf, and other spices that shape global cuisines.
Food Forest - Breadfruit, cacao, coffee, nut trees, and long-term food crops grown in a layered tropical system.
Trail of Vanilla - Orchids climbing ti plants, showing you how one of the world’s most labor-intensive flavors is grown.
The Ginger Patch - turmeric, galangal, and cardamom—roots and rhizomes essential to tropical cooking.
Tea Garden - black and green tea, hibiscus, lemongrass, chamomile, and plants used for everyday beverages.
Banana Grove - pink banana, blue banana and many rare varieties of banana
The Salad Bowl - here we grow many of the food crops and seasonal vegetables for our farm plates
The Fruit Orchard - where we harvest citrus, lilikoi, papaya, pineapple, and more tropixal fruits.
Flower Garden - paths invite you to enjoy the blooms of Heliconia, ginger, orchids, anthurium, ti, and other tropical flowers grown for beauty, scent, and habitat.
Visit the Gardens
Self-Guided Garden Tours allow you to explore the Discovery Gardens at your own pace, discovering how tropical food plants grow and how they are used.
You are are invited to wander the gardens, our plant signs and scan QR codes allow you to learn more about the plants you encounter. Throughout the gardens, our knowledgeable in person gardeners and guides are available to share stories, history, and growing information, offer fruit tastings when available, and lead short guided walks through different garden areas.
The experience is relaxed, educational, and sensory—designed for curious travelers, gardeners, and food lovers.
Your visit includes:
A self-guided walk through multiple garden areas
QR codes on plant signs with growing and cultural information
Stories and insights shared by our farm gardeners and guides throughout the gardens
Fruit tastings when available
A day pass across the bridge, valid for re-entry all day while you are in Hana

Tickets
$15 Garden Day Pass (Entry to the gardens begins by crossing the bridge.)
Includes same-day re-entry, so you’re welcome to return and explore again anytime while you’re in Hana.
Tickets are available at the Hana Farms store.
Before You Go

Wear comfortable walking shoes; garden paths are uneven in places
